About me
My journey with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) began in 2008 when I enrolled at ESMTC college in Lisbon. A few years later, I moved to London and continued my studies at the Northern College of Acupuncture (York), where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Acupuncture in 2014.
Over time, I became deeply interested in the relationship between health and beauty and how true radiance reflects internal wellbeing. In 2015, I specialised in cosmetic acupuncture at the Acuregen Academy and later joined their clinical team, supporting patients, training courses, and international industry events.
My work has taken me internationally, from assisting courses at Yo San University in Los Angeles to exhibiting at Beautyworld Middle East in Dubai.
I believe deeply in the potential of Chinese medicine and acupuncture, both as a complete medical system and as part of an integrated approach to care.
My passion lies in helping women support their skin naturally, from within. Not by chasing unrealistic beauty standards, but by working with the body through acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and holistic skincare. Facial acupuncture, to me, is about connection, balance, and long-term wellbeing.
This philosophy led to the creation of Misaki: from the Japanese 美 (mi), meaning “beautiful”, and 咲 (saki), meaning “blossom”, it reflects my belief that every woman has the potential to blossom into her healthiest, most radiant self.
APPOINTMENTS
I currently see patients in North London (Finchley N12) and North West London (NW6).
Cosmetic Acupuncture
A natural and holistic approach to glowing skin without side effects

What it is
Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural and safe alternative compared to other invasive cosmetic procedures. It treats the body as a whole by addressing your overall health and well-being with a focus on facial rejuvenation to improve overall elasticity and complexion.
How it’s done
Tiny needles are placed on the face as well as other body areas such as arms or legs. These points are tailored to each person according to their present condition and treatment goal. By penetrating the skin’s barrier, its natural response is to repair itself and to do this it needs a very specific protein - enters collagen! The body can produce it its own, it just needs an extra push and the right directions.
Who’s it for
If you are someone who wants to address any signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation or scarring to name a few, naturally and without the side effects or downtime that the alternatives offer - while enjoying the added benefits of acupuncture - this treatment might be just what you’re looking for. Wondering if you’re too young? Remember your mid-20s should be all about prevention!

When it comes to acupuncture, there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach
Every journey begins with a full medical consultation, regardless of what you’re coming in for. This allows me to understand you as a whole, rather than focusing on isolated symptoms or concerns.
Treatments are then tailored to your individual needs and may combine body acupuncture, cosmetic facial acupuncture, microneedling, LED light therapy, and skincare support. Even when the focus is the face, addressing the body as a whole is always part of the treatment, a core principle of Chinese medicine.
Treatment packages and payment options are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture in the UK are self-regulated, which means practitioners can have varying levels of training and education.
In the case of cosmetic facial acupuncture, some practitioners may come from shorter, cosmetic-only courses, while others have completed full degree-level training in Traditional Chinese Medicine before specialising further in this field.
For this reason, I always encourage you to ask practitioners about their qualifications and background, so you can choose the depth of care that feels right for you. For me, offering this level of care is about ensuring safety and supporting health in a truly holistic way, even when the focus is cosmetic.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete medical system that focuses not only on addressing illness, but also on prevention. It supports both general wellbeing and more specific concerns such as digestion, stress, hormones, sleep, and skin health.
Acupuncture is one part of TCM, alongside practices such as food therapy, moxibustion, Tuina massage, and cupping, all working together to support balance within the body.
Cosmetic facial acupuncture is rooted in the same TCM foundations, with a specific emphasis on facial rejuvenation and skin health. Even when the focus is the face, the body is always part of the treatment, as everything in Chinese medicine is interconnected.
If your main focus is overall health and wellbeing, holistic acupuncture may be most appropriate. If your primary goal is skin rejuvenation, cosmetic facial acupuncture is the right place to start.
What makes cosmetic acupuncture unique is that it’s rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which sees you as a whole person rather than a set of isolated concerns.
Points on the face are selected in the context of your overall health, this supports circulation, calms inflammation, regulates hormones, and nurtures the nervous system while also working locally on the face.
Because stress, digestion, sleep and emotional wellbeing all influence skin health, this approach supports both inner balance and visible skin quality rather than just treating surface symptoms
Take stress, for instance. You know how easy it is to frown when you’re overwhelmed? It’s no surprise we often see people with lines between their eyebrows - the well-known “elevens.” Over time, repeated expressions can contribute to fine lines and wrinkles. And we all know how stress affects more than just our mood - it impacts sleep, digestion, hormones, and skin.
That’s where acupuncture shines. By supporting your emotional wellbeing, digestion, sleep, and more, cosmetic acupuncture treats beauty from the inside out - while also working locally on the face to enhance visible results. When you feel better, you look better.
Curious about the research behind it? You can explore more on the Evidence Based Acupuncture website.
That depends on what you’re hoping to achieve.
Are you looking to maintain your skin’s current glow and health? Or are you wanting to work on something more specific, like softening lines, fading pigmentation, improving scars, or supporting skin impacted by stress or hormonal changes?
We always go through this together in your first session. I’ll listen to your concerns, assess your skin, and suggest a treatment approach that matches your goals.
For general skin maintenance or prevention, many clients come in once a month or every few weeks. These sessions help keep the skin nourished, stimulated, and supported - like giving your skin a regular tune-up.
For more targeted concerns, a course of 6-12 sessions yearly is usually recommended. Ideally, the first 3-4 sessions are closer together to build momentum, after which treatments can be spaced out according to your progress and availability.
Every treatment counts, whether you come in weekly or every so often. Think of each session as a deposit into your collagen bank. Even occasional treatments help nourish the skin, support circulation, and gently stimulate collagen over time.
In the same way that savings grow through regular contributions, consistency (in whatever form that takes) allows those deposits to add up. This supports deeper, longer-term change by helping the body rebalance from within - which directly influences how your skin behaves and ages. That’s why having a treatment plan matters, even if sessions are spaced out over time.
Rather than being a one-off, cosmetic acupuncture offers ongoing support and is often approached in cycles. Many patients choose to repeat a course over time, commonly yearly, as skin continues to change with age, stress, seasons, and life stages.
Results vary from person to person, as they depend on factors such as your overall health, lifestyle, consistency, and what you’re coming in for. Skin is an organ, and just like the rest of the body, it responds in its own individual way.
You may notice a healthy, natural glow after your first session, often due to improved circulation and hydration. Skin can feel more plump, refreshed, and balanced. With regular treatments, changes tend to be subtle and cumulative, reflecting improvements in skin quality rather than drastic or instant transformation.
Cosmetic acupuncture may support concerns such as fine lines, uneven tone or pigmentation, breakouts, dryness, puffiness, redness, and overall loss of vitality. This is why I always approach before-and-after images with care. You’ll find examples shared on my Instagram, but cosmetic acupuncture works with the body’s natural processes, and results will always vary.
My focus is on supporting sustainable, long-term results by working with the whole system (not just the face) in line with the principles of Chinese medicine.
Chinese medicine approaches inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, eczema or rosacea by looking deeper than surface symptoms. The goal is to reduce inflammation, promote healing and support your body’s natural balance, creating conditions for the skin to heal from the inside out.
By restoring internal balance (homeostasis), we help the body create the right conditions for the skin to heal and thrive naturally.
Cosmetic acupuncture is considered safe and gentle, with no required downtime - unlike many other facial rejuvenation methods.
Mild bruising can occur in certain areas of the face, though this is rare and usually fades within a few days. I use specialised intradermal needles to minimise this risk, and if bruising does appear, it can be covered with makeup. If you have a big event coming up, I recommend booking a session a few days in advance, just to be safe.
There are a few other possible effects that we actually love:
- A calmer mind and deeper relaxation
- Better digestion and reduced bloating
- More energy and improved sleep quality
These are common because cosmetic acupuncture treats the whole person, not just the face.
There are a few situations where cosmetic acupuncture may not be recommended. If you’re pregnant, it’s best to wait until after pregnancy. Individuals with certain conditions - such as diabetes (which can increase bruising), clotting disorders, pacemakers, HIV or some cardiovascular issues - may not be suitable candidates.
We’ll always double check any potential contraindications before treatment begins to make sure this is the right fit for you.
Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) is a treatment designed to stimulate the skin’s natural healing response and boost collagen production.
I offer microneedling as part of a treatment plan for existing patients. What makes my approach unique is that it’s supported by tailored acupuncture points - whether ear, body, or facial - for a truly holistic experience that works with your whole system, not just your skin.
I believe in slow, natural nurture for long-lasting beauty. There’s a lot of misinformation out there. Dermarollers are sometimes reused in certain settings (not good!), and patients are often left with overly sensitised or damaged skin. There’s simply no reason - or research - to justify over-traumatising the skin like that. Sometimes, less really is more.
That’s why I don’t offer microneedling to new patients. First, I want to assess how your skin and body respond to treatment. Gradually increasing the intensity - whether it’s the number of needles or the treatment zones - helps ensure we don’t overwhelm your system. And remember: stress is not a friend of the healing process.
Once you’ve experienced cosmetic acupuncture on its own, both you and your skin will be much more prepared. Your microneedling session will be deeply supported with peptide-infused masks and/or serums to promote healing, hydration, and the growth of fresh new collagen.
No. I only use high-quality, single-use disposable needles. The same goes for dermarollers used in the clinic - they’re never reused and are safely disposed of after each treatment. Hygiene and safety are always a top priority.
If you’re coming in for cosmetic acupuncture, arriving with a bare face is ideal, but no stress if you’re wearing light makeup. Just try to avoid heavy or waterproof products. I always begin with a cleanse and tone, so you’re in good hands.
If you feel a cold sore coming on (that classic tingling sensation), let me know beforehand. We’ll avoid too much facial needling in that area, but still support your immune system through acupuncture.
For all other treatments, here are a few tips to help you feel comfortable and get the most out of your session:
- Acupuncture points may include the arms, hands, legs, back, or tummy - so wearing loose, comfortable clothing is always a good idea.
- Try to avoid alcohol the night before, as this can help reduce the risk of bruising.
- Make sure you’ve had a light meal or snack about an hour before your appointment - acupuncture on an empty stomach isn’t ideal.
Whether you’re coming for cosmetic or general acupuncture, your comfort and care are always my priority. 😊
After your session, the most important thing you can do is tune in to how you feel.
Ask yourself:
- Do I need to take it easy today?
- Would an early night feel supportive?
- Do I feel energised and creative, or more drawn to rest and quiet?
The body is wise. Even if you don’t consciously notice it, a lot happens during an acupuncture session. You may feel deeply relaxed, slightly spacey, or pleasantly energised, all of which are completely normal responses.
This is especially common after a first session. Acupuncture helps shift the nervous system from “fight or flight” (sympathetic mode) into “rest and digest” (parasympathetic mode). For those who are constantly on the go, this can highlight just how much rest the body has been needing.
After cosmetic acupuncture or microneedling
Please follow the guidance below to support your skin as it heals and regenerates.
Post-treatment skin care
- Cleanse the face with tepid water for the first 24-48 hours, gently patting dry with clean hands.
- Let the skin breathe - avoid conventional makeup for 12-24 hours. Mineral makeup (e.g. Jane Iredale) is fine, using a clean or new brush.
- Use products with airless pumps rather than pots to reduce bacterial contamination.
- Avoid strong active ingredients (acids, retinols, peels) for 1-2 weeks post-treatment.
- Check products for parabens, petrochemicals, and phthalates - the skin absorbs more after treatment, so cleaner is better.
- Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 daily throughout your treatment course and avoid prolonged sun exposure in the first week (and beyond).
Microneedling-specific notes
Microneedling is a low-risk procedure, especially with my gentle approach. It’s normal for the skin to appear pink or red for a few hours, and you may experience mild tightness, warmth, or itchiness. These effects typically settle within 24-72 hours.
To soothe the skin
- Apply organic aloe vera gel (patch test first)
- Acuregen Rebalancing Gel or Puriskin (Green or Pink)
- Hyaluronic acid to hydrate and support collagen production
Avoid for 48-72 hours
- Swimming pools
- Saunas and steam rooms
- Intense exercise or heavy sweating
- Exfoliating skincare (AHAs, BHAs, retinols, clay masks)
- Other professional facial treatments until the skin has fully healed
Scalp microneedling aftercare
Recommended products
- Cebelia Soothing Lotion for Scalp - apply once daily or as needed until healed (usually 48-72 hours)
- CLINICCARE Sun Shield Cream SPF 30+ - wear daily for at least one week
- Optional support: Cebelia Anti-Hair Loss Lotion, Amalian Hair Booster, CLINICCARE Energising Shampoo & Conditioner (2× weekly)
What to avoid
- Touching the scalp for 24 hours (micro-channels are delicate)
- Harsh shampoos or styling products for 24-48 hours
- Direct sun exposure - wear a hat or apply SPF 30+ daily
Hydration tip
Keep the scalp moisturised with light, non-clogging products (such as Cebelia Soothing Lotion) to prevent dryness while healing.
LED (Light Emitting Diode) phototherapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to support cellular repair and regeneration. Originally researched by NASA, it’s widely recognised for its healing, anti-inflammatory, and rejuvenating properties, with applications across both medical and skincare settings.
The treatment delivers blue, red, and near-infrared light simultaneously. Each wavelength penetrates different layers of the skin and is absorbed by specific cells, helping to stimulate natural processes such as collagen production, reduced inflammation, and tissue repair.
LED light therapy pairs beautifully with cosmetic acupuncture. It supports the skin’s ability to adapt to ageing, strengthens barrier function, and encourages deeper healing, helping to enhance and prolong treatment results.
Some of the benefits of LED light therapy
- Improved circulation and oxygenation
- Support for wound and tissue healing
- Stimulation of collagen and elastin production
- Reduced inflammation and redness
- Improved skin tone, texture, and clarity
- Support for acne-prone skin
- Relief from muscle and joint tension
Safe, gentle, and deeply restorative, LED therapy works with the body’s natural processes rather than against them.
LED light therapy works by delivering specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed by cells in the body, helping support areas that may be underperforming or in need of repair.
When light energy (photons) is absorbed by photo-acceptors in the mitochondria - often referred to as the “powerhouse” of the cell - it helps increase the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the cell’s main energy source. This boost in cellular energy supports processes involved in repair, regeneration, and the restoration of healthy tissue.
Research shows that the effects of LED light therapy go beyond the surface of the skin. Depending on the wavelength used, LED therapy may help modulate inflammation, support nerve signalling, and increase blood flow to treated tissues - all of which contribute to healing and recovery.
These mechanisms help explain why LED light therapy is widely used not only in aesthetic treatments, but also in physiotherapy and medical settings to support pain management, tissue healing, and recovery.

In short: LED light doesn’t just improve how your skin looks - it supports how your body heals. That’s why it’s such a powerful complement to cosmetic acupuncture and other holistic treatments.
